Argentina Moves to Boost Foreign Trade: New Measures to Ease Exports, by ASAP Americas

(Buenos Aires).- Argentina’s foreign trade gets a major boost: lower export taxes, streamlined customs procedures, and new AFIP regulations create opportunities for exporters and SMEs.

Argentina’s export industry is facing an unusual scenario. For the first time in years, new measures seem to align with the interests of producers and exporters. The elimination of export taxes on industrial products, the simplification of customs procedures, and the new AFIP regulations create a set of incentives that SMEs cannot afford to ignore.
Eliminating Export Taxes on Industrial Goods
On May 30, the Argentine government officially announced the elimination of export duties on more than 3,700 industrial tariff positions. The measure, effective immediately, covers sectors such as auto parts, chemical products, and capital goods.
The goal is clear: Argentina needs to export value-added products, not just raw materials. However, the key question remains: How many SMEs are ready to take advantage of this opportunity?
According to official data, fewer than 10,000 companies consistently export in Argentina. Most have limited market diversification and tight profit margins. While the removal of export taxes does not solve all challenges, it does provide a better starting point for many businesses.
Less Bureaucracy, More Operational Efficiency
In addition to the tax benefits, the government has introduced two simplification measures in customs operations, addressing a long-standing demand from the private sector.
- Reduction of reporting requirements and less duplicate documentation.
- Integration of customs, tax, and control systems with digital traceability.
Although the operational details still need to be finalized, the goal is clear: streamline processes and reduce administrative costs, especially for SMEs that lack dedicated foreign trade departments.
An Opportunity to Reposition Argentina’s Industry
The removal of export taxes is not just an incentive to increase exports—it’s an invitation to rethink strategies:
- Can your company add industrial processes to access new markets without paying export duties?
- Do you have products that were previously uncompetitive but could now enter markets at better prices?
- Is it worth reviewing your tariff classification?

"These measures signal a shift in the business climate. But they don’t guarantee results. Success depends on those who anticipate, adjust their operations, and position themselves quickly. That’s where we add value." said Tomás Galarza, Foreign Trade Analyst, ASAP Americas
